What the Bible says

The bible speaks a lot on the subject of money, giving and the heart of generous giver.

In Matthew 6 we are instructed to not store up treasures on earth, where they can be destroyed or stolen, but instead store our treasures in heaven. It reminds us that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.

Acts 20:35 reminds us that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’

2nd Corinthians 9:7 instructs us to give cheerfully, willfully and generously.

How much and when you give is something to be worked out between you and God - as a way of honouring Him.

Finances at Hawera A/G

Hawera A/G Church programs and staff are completely funded by the tithers and offering of our congregation.

Together as s faith community, our tithes and offerings make a big difference - both locally and globally. Without the generosity of so many people, we could do very little - so thank you for helping to support the Hawera A/G Church mission of ‘‘We are biblically based, Holy Spirit led, Faith Community, that disciples people into Life with Jesus Christ.”

We aim to be as transparent as possible in all matters of finance:
Every year our detailed accounts are externally reviewed, and all findings are made available to our congregation.

All budgets for each year are discussed and approved by the church members.

All pastoral salary and expenses are discussed and set by the Elders (appointed by church members)

Aside from regular and one-off tithes and offerings, there are also opportunities to financially support other initiatives such as continued church upgrades, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and one off donations to visiting speakers.

A Generous Heart

Giving is a powerful expression of worship,
and is an outward response to what God has done for us.

As Christians, we are called to give generously - of our time, resources and money. All we have belongs to God, and we are to see ourselves as stewards, rather than owners, of our property and income.

Our financial giving expresses our thankfulness, and commitment to God and His church. It also gives us the opportunity to grow our faith.
